Every one of us is placed on this earth for a reason. We are not here by accident, and the breath in our lungs today is proof that God still has work for us to do. The Bible says, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness…” (2 Timothy 4:7-8).
When I think about the life of Charlie Kirk, I cannot help but see a man who lived on divine assignment. Whether you agreed with his words or not, he lived out his calling with boldness. And now, his divine assignment is finished. He has finished his course. His reward awaits him in eternity.
But this isn’t just about him…it’s about all of us. Are we faithfully walking in our divine assignment daily?
Today, as we remember the tragic events of September 11th, 2001, we are reminded of countless men and women who, in their final moments, lived out their divine assignments with courage.
People like Todd Beamer, who famously declared “Let’s roll” as he and others on Flight 93 fought back against terrorists, preventing even greater loss of life. That was a divine assignment, completed in bravery, completed in faith, completed in sacrifice.
The firefighters who ran into burning towers when others were running out. The ordinary office workers who helped strangers down endless flights of stairs. The countless prayers whispered in those moments of terror. Each act was part of a divine assignment that carried eternal weight.
Our divine assignment may not look like a headline story. It may never be remembered by the world. But heaven records every step. Every act of obedience…large or small…matters in the Kingdom.
Every day, we must ask ourselves:
Did I love the way Jesus asked me to love today?
Did I share His truth, even when it was hard?
Did I serve someone else when no one was watching?
Did I carry out the small but holy work He placed in front of me?
Assignments from heaven don’t always look grand. Sometimes they look like encouraging a hurting friend, praying when no one else will, or simply showing up with faith when fear tries to take over.
Charlie’s passing and the memory of September 11th both remind us that none of us are promised tomorrow. The question isn’t just Will I complete my divine assignment someday? but rather, Am I faithfully completing it today?
Because one day, our course will also be finished. One day, we too will stand before the Lord and give account. My prayer is that when that moment comes, we can hear the words every child of God longs for: “Well done, good and faithful servant.”
Until then, may we live with heaven’s awareness, with urgency in our steps and eternity in our hearts.
Friend, your divine assignment is waiting on you today. Step into it. Walk it out. Complete it. Because eternity is too close and too real to live distracted
